OneDrive – Files on Demand option missing

We recently discovered a  an issue with the OneDrive client on a few clients PC’s. The Files on demand option was completely missing. Assuming you have checked all the minimum criteria for Files On-Demand

OneDrive Files On-Demand requires:

  • Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709 or later) or Windows Server 2019
  • OneDrive build 17.3.7064.1005 or later. [Mentioned in the article]

You have probably scoured the internet looking for another solution and come up empty and frustrated.

The Fix

The good news it is a simple fix!

  1. Open registry editor

    Press Windows key + R, type regedit and press enter

  2. Browse to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CldFlt right click and create New ‘Dword 32 bit’ and give value as 2 as Hexadecimal.

  3. Restart the machine
